Saddle Up for St. Jude is a fun, family-oriented fundraising event based around horseback riding that raises money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Typically, a Saddle Up event consists of a trail ride, but it can also include horse shows and other equestrian events. Horse enthusiasts and the general public alike, have joined together to hold Saddle Up events across the country to help in the hospital’s fight against childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

St. Jude depends on community-based fundraising programs like Saddle Up for St. Jude to continue the hospital’s groundbreaking research and lifesaving care. The daily operating cost for St. Jude is nearly $1.4 million, which is primarily covered by public contributions.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. Founded by late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance. No child is ever denied treatment because of the family’s inability to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fundraising organization. For more information, please visit www.stjude.org.

By participating in the Saddle Up for St. Jude event you have the opportunity to earn great prizes while helping the children of St. Jude. Prizes are earned based off of the amount of donations you collect.

Awesome October 10 4-H Show!

WOW! What an awesome day! It was great to see the all of the horse enthusiasts today. The weather was perfect, except for the small shower early in the morning, we had a fabulous judge (THANK YOU! CHUCK!), and we had a record number of riders! I haven't had time to do an official count but I know from the show numbers that we had at least 55 riders. Our annual costume class continues to be impossible to place due to the creative participants. We had The Headless Horseman, Santa Clause, a gift wrapped horse ridden by an elf, an angel riding a devil (doesn't this situation occur often?), a "hunter horse", and a pair that were pretty in pink... just to name a few. So... all were crowned winners with treat bags for the riders and horses.

Congratulations to our High Points Champions!!!
