Treasurer’s
Report by Treasurer Pearl Lund. See
report attached. Two missing statements
need to be replaced and Pearl will handle that with the bank. It was also suggested that we sign up for
online banking. It would be read only no
actual banking can be done.
There
was no report on the South Central District Advisory Council due to no meeting.
Old
Business:
The
Game Show was a success. No complaints
and everyone seemed to have a good time.
We would like to thank Mindy Carriker’s dad for dragging the arena!
The
presentation by Dr. Michelle Gardner on Equine Vaccinations was very
informative and well received by the audience.
Next year we need to have it earlier in August.

The
Jumping Clinic will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Ellis Park
beginning at 9 am. The deadline to enter
is September 1st by 4 pm. All
contact info should go to Judi Ziegelhofer at Judiemouse@aol.com. We need
four riders to hold the clinic.
Clinician is Amy Henderson of the Manes & Tails 4-H Club in
Cleveland.
We
have a Games Clinic penciled in on the calendar for October 4th. Juliah will contact Mindy and Brandy to see
if they would like to run the clinic.
The
ticket request deadline for the Clinton Anderson Clinic, October 11 & 12 in
Williamston, NC is September 15th.
After that deadline, we will open the tickets up to other horse
organizations and 4-H in other counties.
Forms can be downloaded from Facebook or the R.A.C.E. blog. Forms must be turned in to Sara Drake at the
4-H Office.
The
timer worked out really well!
New
Business:
The
Saddle Up for St. Jude Trail Ride will be held Sunday, November 2, 2014 at TTC
in Mocksville. Sign up will begin at 11
am and rides will go out beginning at 1pm.
Rides will be very laid back and mostly walking. A committee will need to go up to TTC and
mark the trails with TTC Staff. Food
will be available by TTC but will not be free.
Also, ALL riders MUST wear a helmet while mounted on TTC property.
All
members who would like points toward the Year End Awards for the Horse Project
Record will be required to hand in their books to Sara Drake by November 14th
for inspection. Books do not have to be
completed at this time, but must show considerable progress. Books will be returned at the R.A.C.E. 4-H
Year End Award Dinner in December.
The
2015 slate of R.A.C.E. 4-H Officers will be elected at the October 23rd
meeting. If you would like to run for
office and would like to know what each office of R.A.C.E. entails, please feel
free to contact any of our officers or Sara Drake to ask questions! Officers will be elected in October and will
take office in January 2015. Anyone who
intends to run should make themselves familiar with the R.A.C.E. 4-H By-Laws.
Our
October Horse Show is right around the corner.
We need volunteers to run the coggins check in, gates, ring crew,
concessions, etc. Our judge is Roger
Moore from Statesville and our trail judge is Jim Mckee. It was suggested by Pearl Lund that we need a
new stove and oven for the kitchen at Ellis.
If anyone knows of a stove in good condition please let Pearl know.
Our
2014 R.A.C.E. 4-H Year End Awards Dinner will be held on Friday, December 5,
2014 at 6:30 pm at the 4-H Office.
R.A.C.E. will provide the meat, beverages and paper products and

one is asked to bring a side dish. A
motion was made by Pearl Lund and seconded by Joey Bullock to have the cake
made by Sherry Gobble once again. Motion
passed. Trophies will be given to the
High Point and High point Reserve member in the Junior, Senior and Non-Rider
categories. All Cloverbuds will receive
$5.00 gift cards to Tractor Supply. We
will also give special awards to a member in each horse club that has shown the
best spirit and sportsmanship this year.
Each club will chose who the award is to go to. Deadline for each club’s recipient is
November 1st. This deadline
is FIRM as the trophies for the Sportsmanship Awards have the member’s name on
them and must be ordered. A motion was
made by Joey Bullock and seconded by Amy Henderson to purchase all awards
needed for the dinner. Motion was
passed.
Stacey
Carter is organizing a ride through Salisbury as part of the Horses & Heroes
Program. Spectators will vote for the
horse they feel is best and awards will be given. More information is available on our Facebook
